Price Brothers Lights

Louis Preuss was born in 1899 in Lithuania. Around the time he was 10 years of, the family moved to New York City. Four years later found the family living in Chicago's South Side, where along the way, they Americanized their last name to Price. Herman, Louis's older brother lived nearby. Herman, a refrigeration expert for the Navy in World War I, headed appliance and manufacturing and design for Sear's department Stores. Louis started his own company called Price Brothers and manufactured directional (up, down, arrow and exit signs) for Sears stores worldwide. He grew his company by making illuminated signs and lights for Coca Cola. Eventually he expanded his company again by manufacturing cash register lights, motion lights and clocks for the brewing industry. There was a facility in Chesterton Indiana that manufactured back bar lights for the Brewing Industry called Raymond Prices Associates but it is unknown if the two companies have a family connection. Herman's son "Dick" worked for uncle Louis in 1957.

Louis E. Price 1899-1999 came to America about the age of ten and moved to Chicago’s south side at fourteen. He founded Price Brothers, Inc, an office supply business in 1926. He used “Brothers” in the company name because it sounded more professional to him. He manufactured directional signs (up, down and arrow signs) for Sear stores worldwide.

Price Brothers made illuminated signs for Coca-Cola. Eventually they made cash register lights for the brewing industry. He sold his company in the late sixties. The Point of Purchase Advertising Institute (Washington D.C.) honored Mr. Price shortly before his death.
